Therapy + Treatment for

ADHD + Behavioral Challenges

What can this look like?

Children with unmanaged ADHD and behavioral concerns can have difficulty in many areas of their life including:

  • Noncompliance

  • Outright defiance

  • Social conflict

  • Emotional outbursts

For many of these children, the impact of these symptoms is felt socially, academically, and within the family. Obtaining an appropriate diagnosis will be very important, and our work begins with a thorough evaluation of what factors are contributing to the behaviors.

What treatments do I provide?

I treat youth between the ages of 4-12 years old and draw on strategies from the following interventions:

  • Parent training in behavior management (also known as behavioral parent training)

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)

  • Parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT)

  • Collaborative and Proactive Solutions

  • Problem solving skills training (PSST)

*Depending on your child’s age, there may be more or less parent involvement in treatment. For most behavioral concerns, the research recommends parent-focused interventions and this will most often be the approach I start with.
